7 Extra Courses You Could Offer as a Hypnobirthing Teacher ‌

Uncategorized Jan 04, 2024

As a Hypnobirthing teacher, I loved offering full Hypnobirthing courses both via group courses and one to ones. There’s nothing like the connection you get with your clients, working with them in this way, right? It was where the bulk of my income came from too.

I also loved having the option of offering other types of sessions too. Having that freedom and flexibility in my business, (especially being a busy mum) was important to me. Plus, I’m someone that does like variety and that’s what this freedom gave me: the ability to try new things and keep things varied.

People often ask me what other things, in addition to full Hypnobirthing courses you could offer as a Hypnobirthing teacher so I thought I’d compile my suggestions here…

Pregnancy Relaxation

Run weekly or one-off sessions for pregnant women focused on the relaxation elements of a Hypnobirthing course.

You could start the session with some calm breathing and then welcome them with introductions. Next, enjoy a discussion about a birth related topic and end with a long and relaxing Hypnobirthing script. This could be done in person or online.

In person, these sessions are a great way to get more known locally for your services and potentially introduce Hypnobirthing to more women.‌

One off birth planning session

Run a 1-2 hour workshop where you introduce women and their birth partners to the value of writing a birth plan. Talk about useful ways of presenting a birth plan and discuss potential things that could be included. Here you could talk about the many birth options and bust common myths about choice and perhaps discuss the implications of having a birth friendly environment too.

This could be done in a group or even a one to one. The session would be valuable to people who haven’t done hypnobirthing and could potentially act as a great introduction to it. Equally those that have already done hypnobirthing might benefit from this extra support and time to create their plan.

On the topic of one-off sessions, there’s so many other one-offs you could consider running e.g. Breathing for birth, Birth partner essentials, Birth: Your choices.

Pregnancy retreats

Run a retreat morning or afternoon for women expecting babies. You could do this on your own or even team up with another bump related business e.g a pregnancy yoga teacher. Plan an itinerary of a mix of hypnobirthing scripts, chat and gentle mindset activities.

Activities that go down a treat at events like this are: affirmation writing, journaling, breathing practice, postpartum planning, visualisation and birth option discussion.

Give your retreat a luxury vibe with a pretty venue, fresh flowers, beautiful cakes and mocktails.

Calm caesarean courses

Offer a specific Hypnobirthing course for those planning or considering a caesarean birth. Often women who are thinking about caesarean birth, think that hypnobirthing isn’t for them. Having a specific offering aimed at them ensures they understand that they too will benefit from a hypnobirthing course.

Make the course super relevant with affirmations for caesarean, apply the techniques to caesarean, discuss birth options and birth planning for caesarean.

At Love Your Birth all our students and graduates access session plans and resources specifically designed with caesarean clients in mind.

Hypnobirthing short courses

In an ideal world everyone that did Hypnobirthing would do a full course with a qualified Hypnobirthing teacher. However, what about those people that find Hypnobirthing late?

For this reason, you could consider offering a Hypnobirthing Intensive course. Other people call it an Essentials course or even a basics course. This is a one-off course of around 4 hours delivering the key elements of hypnobirthing.

The key with this is making it clear that it isn’t the same as doing a full course, it’s a version of the course that does require more independent work.

Hypnobirthing refresher courses

Those people who have done Hypnobirthing in a previous pregnancy would really benefit from time to recap the techniques, reflect on their options and build confidence for this birth.

Maybe this pregnancy feels different as this time they are already parents, so actually having some dedicated time to prepare for birth is likely to be highly valuable. They may need the accountability to practice their techniques too. Hypnobirthing is more than knowing the techniques, it’s about using them.

A refresher course could be a one-off session of 2-3 hours or even a series of sessions. It’s a great way of having an attractive offer for your past clients or even those that did Hypnobirthing elsewhere.‌

Hypnobirthing taster/ trial session

Offer an hour’s session that is designed to introduce people to hypnobirthing so that they can sample how fab it is and see how it will benefit them in pregnancy and birth.

Offering a free or low-cost taster allows expectant parents to give it ago even if they’ve got their doubts and then once they are there, they can see that there’s nothing weird about hypnobirthing and you can tell them about the courses that you offer.

Now, I bet I could go on! Isn’t it exciting thinking about the many possible offerings you could have as a Hypnobirthing Teacher. Enjoy planning what offerings you are going to focus on. It’s wise not to offer too many all at once as too many options can confuse potential clients. However, its totally ok to mix up what you offer an be creative.

Thinking of becoming a Hypnobirthing teacher and having the skills to run birth changing courses, take my quiz to see if it’s the path for you.
