Can You Train as a Hypnobirthing Teacher With a Baby?

Uncategorized Apr 20, 2026

If you’re thinking about training as a hypnobirthing teacher but you have a baby (or toddlers… or a baby AND toddlers), the same thought usually pops up:

“How on earth would I fit it in?

I hear this all the time.

Women often discover hypnobirthing during pregnancy, have an incredible birth experience and feel this pull to share it with others. But then reality kicks in. Life with little ones is busy, unpredictable and often exhausting.

So the idea of starting something new can feel impossible!

But here’s something interesting. Many of the women who train with Love Your Birth actually start during maternity leave or while raising young children!

Not when life is quiet. Not when everything is perfectly organised. Actually, right in the middle of busy family life!

I asked four of my graduates what it was really like training while mothering babies. Their answers might surprise you…

“I finally felt like I’d found myself again”

When Danielle Springhall decided to train, she already had three daughters aged five, four and almost two.

She had been running baby classes and hearing birth stories from parents every week.

“I had been toying with adding hypnobirthing to my baby class business for a while… knowing the difference hypnobirthing had made to my own birth experiences and truly believing women deserved better.”

After hearing one particularly traumatic story from a parent, she knew it was time. But like many mums, her biggest worry was simply how she would fit it in.

“My youngest was still breastfeeding multiple times during the night… and it was the summer holidays when I signed up because I clearly didn’t have enough going on! Haha”

Her plan had been to start in September during nap times. But curiosity got the better of her.

“I had a sneak peek at the online training as soon as the email came through and was addicted.”

Soon she was studying in tiny pockets of time throughout the day.

“Every time the girls were playing, I would open my laptop, pop a headphone in and do a bit of training.”

Because the videos are short and flexible, she could even learn during night feeds.

“I could watch a video during a night feed at 2am and then answer the workbook questions in the morning.”

For Danielle, the experience became something more than gaining a qualification.

“I finally felt like I’d found myself again after three babies and a whole lot of motherhood.”

“It made me feel like ‘Danielle’ again, not just ‘Mummy’.”

“From surviving the juggle to building a legacy”

Jen Wilde began her training while caring for a whirlwind two-year-old and a breastfeeding four-month-old.

Her motivation came from her own birth experiences.

“After a traumatic first birth, my second experience was completely transformed by hypnobirthing. It was incredibly empowering.”

At the same time, her existing career no longer worked for family life.

“My current high-level career involves heavy travel, which simply doesn't align with my family's needs anymore.”

She wanted something that would fit around motherhood but also something meaningful.

“I have a genuine fire in my belly to bridge the gap between medical care and emotional support.”

When she first logged into the course platform, seeing the lessons ahead felt daunting.

“With a whirlwind two-year-old and a breastfeeding four-month-old, seeing ‘0/95 lessons completed’ on day one was a bit daunting!”

But she quickly realised the training was built with real life in mind.

“Because the videos vary in length, I can squeeze in a lesson while in the bath or during a night feed.”

Her approach was simple.

“My secret is a Sunday planning session. I commit to just two hours of study per week.”

Over time the training changed how she saw her future.

“It has moved me from ‘surviving the juggle’ to ‘building a legacy’.”

“There’s never a right time, so why not go for it now?”

Alex Kavanagh was nearing the end of maternity leave with her first baby when she decided to train.

“My little girl was turning one and I was reflecting on the past year and her birth.”

Her birth experience had left her feeling incredibly empowered.

“I felt like a superwoman after birth and I wanted all women to feel this way.”

Like many mums she wondered if the timing was right.

Then she realised something important.

“I knew there was never going to be a ‘right time’ to do anything, so why not go for it now."

One of her biggest worries was confidence.

“I’m naturally quite a shy person, so the thought of standing up in front of people was scary.”

Instead of letting that stop her, she simply adapted how she started.

“I decided that private 1:1 classes were my way forward.”

And once she began teaching, she discovered something reassuring.

“I realised people choose you for you.”

The flexibility of the training made a big difference too.

“I was able to complete the first part of the training completely at my own pace and in my own time.”

Her husband helped create space for her learning.

“He helped me find pockets of time amongst the whirlwind of parenthood.”

Even during the live training days she didn’t have to worry about being away from her breastfeeding baby. “Abby was flexible with babies being around for the live training.”

“I knew I had found my new passion”

Lucy McCaslin was on maternity leave with her second baby when she decided to enrol.

Her journey into birth work began after experiencing two very different births.

“I had the most magical experience giving birth to my second baby after a traumatic experience with my first.”

The transformation she felt during birth stayed with her.

“I was loving every minute of my mat leave feeling like a queen having birthed my ‘large’ baby in my kitchen like I had been dreaming about.”

She had already been exploring the idea of becoming a hypnobirthing teacher and even booked onto a free training before her baby arrived.

But her baby had other plans.

“He was born about four hours before the first session started!”

When she caught up with the sessions a few weeks later, everything clicked.

“I knew I had found my new passion.”

Like many mums, she initially wondered if the excitement might fade.

“I worried whether it would just be the buzz of birth and whether it might be a waste of time and money.”

But once she began learning, that doubt disappeared.

“I absolutely loved learning everything about the physiology of birth and how I could really make a difference to people’s birth experiences.”

To fit the training into life with a baby she simply built it into everyday moments.

“I listened through my earphones when I was cooking, cleaning and walking.”

When it came to the immersive training days she planned them around family support.

“I booked onto a weekend course so my partner could have the kids and it worked perfectly.”

For Lucy, the decision has changed how she sees her future.

“It has given me a clearer perspective of what I want from my life.”

“I feel excited about work and what I’m building.”

And perhaps most importantly:

“I believe I’m a better mum for putting myself first and making the decision to become a birth worker.”
